Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving 2008 by you.

Here are the girls dressed for Thanksgiving dinner... oh wait... there's only one of them in the picture? Yes it's true, Mia has an acute case of Photographer's Child Syndrome. Good luck getting her anywhere near the camera, let alone being at all cooperative. Candy bribes don't even work anymore.

We went to a friend's house for Thanksgiving this year and it was delicious! Better yet, we didn't have to do all the work but still got to reap some of the rewards (read: leftovers!). She sent us home with enough for another whole meal (which we already had) plus even more for sandwiches. Fabulous.

Of course we lost no time in jumping head first into Christmas Holiday Spirit. Friday was take pictures with Santa day. As you can see, Ellerie loved it.

And Mia almost got within 5 feet of him this year!

Baby steps... I think Christmas 2009 may just be our year!

I think we're learning Japanese, I really think so

November 18, 2008

When Mia started school back in April, I realized I was going to have to learn at least a little bit of Japanese. I got a lot of practice with the katakana characters of Mia's name after writing it on every single belonging including each individual crayon.

We were inspired to try harder after that and I learned katakana, Robert learned hiragana. Between the two of us, we could almost read a sign.

In the meantime, Mia has apparently been working on writing her "half a kitty cat" name on her own. Here's the paper she brought me today.

Mia writes in katakana by you.

Halloween '08

October 31, 2008

You may remember baby chicken Mia with Farmer Daddy from Halloween 2005. Well this year Ellerie is the chicken and Mia is the farmer. She loves it.

Loving the costumes by you.

So much so that she is trying to take it off herself.

Get me out of this chicken suit

Mia actually did have fun as a farmer. We drew some freckles on shortly after this photo was taken. Of course she had already lost patience for any other pictures so you'll have to use your imagination.

Farmer Mia by you.

And if you're wondering why there aren't more pictures of them, maybe this will answer your question:

Do I really need a caption? by you.
