Picky eater?
November 16, 2005

We've started giving Mia little tastes here and there of foods we're eating. So far we've learned that she likes sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, french fries, pizza sauce, guacamole, and grape koolaid. She dislikes kiwis, bananas, and anything on the first list that was supposed to be served hot but is now cold. Incidentally, ice doesn't seem to be high on her list either.
We were planning to wait until after her 6 month birthday to officially introduce solids, but I'm not sure if we're going to make it that long. She seems bound and determined to eat whatever we're eating and watches with fascination as we drink from a glass. It seems almost mean to withhold the food from her when she seems to want it so.
Maybe she'll get to have some Thanksgiving dinner right along with us.

She gets a little cranky toward the end of the second one...
Pushing the buttons - Part 1
Eating the star - Part 2
And, she's learned that pulling the chains makes the music go!
Hey what's this do?

Little Diva, part deux

Mia has been "fake crying" for attention for quite some time now. Unfortunately for the little Diva, we have caught on and don't drop everything and run to her right away. So... she figured she had to up the ante. Now her fake cry bears a remarkable resemblance to her real cry. It's impossible to tell the difference until you actually go to her and then she stops and smiles at you as you approach.
In this picture, one would suspect that she was really upset about something. But guess what! As soon as I started walking over to her and started to pick her up she stopped crying and gave a little giggle. What are we going to do with her???

The weigh in
November 11, 2005
We went to visit Daddy at the hospital today and found an empty baby scale. She's 5 months 5 days today and she's now 18 pounds 6 ounces. I don't know her length, but she can stand with flat feet and knees slightly bent in her exersaucer now!

Falling asleep at breakfast
November 06, 2005

Maybe she's just not a morning person...
It seems like she's been falling asleep everywhere lately. At the breakfast table in her bumbo on Saturday and in her exersaucer a few days before that. Maybe this is reflecting badly on me!

All tuckered out
I think her new found skills must have tired her out. She slept all day today. She was awake for a total of 4 hours today and seems to be in bed for the night now. Boy, being a baby is tiring!

Mobile Mia
November 05, 2005
We're really going to have to step up this child-proofing thing. Today she made it halfway across the room with a combination of 1. rolling, 2. scooting backwards 3. a couple good coordinated crawling efforts. She's been getting her knees up under her with her butt up in the air and then she straightens out which propels her forward a bit, except her head is on the ground so she gets a rug burn on her face. Then, she pushes up and lifts her head high, but she kicks her legs without having them under her first so she doesn't go anywhere! Twice though, she got her hands under her and up on her knees at the same time and then when she went forward she went far! She looked so surprised and pleased with herself. Sometimes though she just scoots backwards because she's found it's easier to move. And she's become quite the roller. She can cover quite a bit of ground that way.
Congratulations Mia. I'm writing it down... your 5 month birthday isn't until tomorrow so "mobile at 4 months".

I'm just so tired!
November 02, 2005

Mia is a sleep fighter. She won't give in until she's worn herself out so much that just she can't keep her eyes open for one more second. She wants to play until the very end. This time I guess she cut it a little too close...
