Happy Easter

April 06, 2006

We've recently found all sorts of things for Mia to be afraid of. Dogs, grass, sand, bubble baths, and now Easter Bunnies.

We wandered up to the Easter Bunny this afternoon and Mia wanted nothing to do with him. There was no one else waiting so I decided to take a few minutes to get her used to him slowly. She seemed brave enough when I was holding her and we were at a good distance from him. But as we inched closer she held on tighter. When he reached out to touch her she pulled back as if he were trying to burn her with acid! We tried a couple different approaches, but the bottom line was that she had no intention of sitting on his lap. I had almost given up on the Easter Bunny idea when I decided to sit her next to him on the bench and stand just to the side. The photographer had pretty much figured it was a lost cause so when I yelled, "Hey, get a picture!" she had to race back to her camera. Luckily, she got this one in just seconds before Mia burst into tears.
