Scared of dogs

Apparently, Mia is scared of dogs. We were over at someone's house the other day and Mia was standing next to my leg. Their large dog came in and sat in front of her. He seemed really calm and had some kids living in his own house so shouldn't have been a danger. Suddenly, I hear Mia let out a scared yell and cling to my leg for dear life. I picked her up and it was fine.
A few days later we were visiting someone else with a dog and the same thing happened. This time I was expecting it so I was watching her. She had a petrified look on her face when she was standing on the ground, but seemed ok if I held her.
We decided to go visit Gavin's dog who was behind a fence to see if she could get used to a dog that couldn't get to her. We went outside to visit the dog, but the same thing happened again. She just really doesn't like dogs!
