Will she walk, the saga continues

April 05, 2006

After her first steps 2 weeks ago, Mia has shown little interest in standing or walking by herself. That first day she seemed so proud of herself, so it surprises me that she's lost interest. Then again, her personality has been to wait until she can do something well before she shows us she can do it.

For the whole following week, whenever you'd try to stand her on the ground she'd collapse her legs like gumby and crumple to the floor. This was quite a change for her since she's always wanted to "stand" when you'd try to sit her down since she was 3 months old!

This week she's let us stand her up again, but holds on for dear life and doesn't want us to let go. However, if you hand her one end of your key chain and hold the key, she will stand just fine. Clearly there is no support offered by a key sliding on a ring. Or, if you hold onto her shirt-- just a small pinch between my thumb and index finger. She was obviously not leaning on anything, but she thought I was still holding her. I'm convinced this is a confidence problem now. Now, we just have to figure out how to convince her she can do it!
