Mia & the goats
January 05, 2007

We went to the zoo today and Mia got to brush the goats. She loves this part although she isn't sure if she's supposed to be scared. As long as they are perfectly still she'll muster up enough courage to go brush them and has a great time. The second they move though she runs away as if they're going to attack her! It's not like they even have to walk towards her, it might just be blinking it's eyes and she'll jump and run away.
Today, Mia made up a new game. She brushed the dirt and then applied said dirt to the goats. It took me a couple rounds to catch on that she was doing this on purpose. She'd brush the dirt, I'd tell her not to do that but to brush the goat instead. She would, but unbeknownst to me, this was exactly her master plan-- to brush the dirt ON to the goat. We did this a couple times until I saw a little corner of her mischievous smile and had a lightbulb moment. I made her put the brush away but she ran to a different bin and got a different kind of brush. This one didn't work as well though. She rubbed it in the dirt but none stuck so when she brushed the goat it didn't get dirty. Unacceptable. Brush was thrown away. She went back to get the old brush and started to dust the goats again so we had to leave. I'll spare you the details of the tantrum that ensued...
