The horror and the shock!

April 22, 2007

Mia just LOVES to take her shoes off in the car. Not a car ride goes by without Mia tearing her shoes off before we're at the end of the driveway. Today, I heard her shoes come off and hit the back of the seat. She said, "Oh no! My shoe!" As if I was supposed to believe she really was upset that her shoe was gone. I sarcastically said, "Oh no! The horror!" Then even more sarcastically added, "And the SHOCK!" "The SHOCK and the HORRORS!" The next thing I hear from behind me is a little voice mimic, "The horror shock!" I hope that doesn't become her new phrase of the day!

Coloring in the lines

April 17, 2007

With no prompting from us, Mia has decided she needs to learn how to color inside the lines. Sometimes she gets it, sometimes she doesn't. But she always tries!

"Happy Hour" playdate

We had a Happy Hour playdate yesterday and I put out some crackers and hummus to much on. The kids didn't like how I had the platter arranged so they "fixed" it.

Disney on Ice

April 16, 2007

Mia dressed as one of the Incredibles and went to see Disney on Ice this weekend. She was mesmerized. At some point, she started getting antsy and didn't want to sit on our laps anymore. So after intermission, we moved over to a section that was nearly empty and she could lounge around on the seats in front of us. Don't forget to check out pictures from the show!

Conversations with Mia

April 14, 2007

We went to see Meet the Robinsons last night. I asked, "Did you like the movie Mia?" Mia enthusiastically replied, "YEAH!!!"

Mia has a habit of dumping all of her toys out to play with them for about 14 seconds. So we're implementing a new rule. Clean up the first toy before you get something else out. She had dumped all of her blocks out on the floor and wanted to play with her puzzle. So we sang the cleanup song while we picked up the blocks. She likes to actually sing along but this time made up new words: Clean up, bye bye bocks, pay puz.

Mia let out a super loud fart and looked like she surprised even herself. I said "Woah! Did you do that Mia?" She said, "Diaper good! Diaper good!"

Other favorite responses or just random interjections include:
What?
What happened?
No way!
Oh Nnnnnoooooo!
Poppykosh.
Wokka wokka wokka!

Playdate

April 11, 2007

We took the playgroup to one of these kids' restaurant/game and activity places. She had been once before when she was just learning to walk. At that time I thought she liked it, but yesterday she REALLY loved it! When you walk in, you have to stand in line to get stamped so parents and kids have matching stamps. It was like torture for her to walk just inside the door then just stand there and not go play. She immediately yelled "WOW!!!!" and tried to run under the entrance gate. I got her back but she was wriggling away when it was finally time for us to go in. She immediately ran from game to game faster than I've ever seen her go before. Looked like the place was a hit! Here are a some of the things she got to do.

The Unprompted Thank You

April 04, 2007

We had lunch at Olive Garden today and Mia went to town. She loved the spaghetti as usual but this time also realized she loved Minestrone soup (especially dipping the breadsticks in it), shredded carrots in the salad (this was a huge breakthrough since it's next to impossible to get her to eat carrots), and thought the shredded parmesan was to die for. She ate all the cheese we could scrape off of our salads and was looking for more when the server came by and asked us if we wanted more cheese. We said yes please and if you wouldn't mind, could you shred some right on Mia's plate right there. He obliged and started grating some right above her head so from her view it was just raining delicious cheese right in front of her eyes! She squealed in delight and started shoveling it in. As he finished and left, Mia yelled after him "Take-Ooooo!"

Putting on the Wind"SOCK"

We opened Grandma's Easter package this morning and I said to Mia "Look at the pretty Easter windsock Grandma sent you!" Mia promptly sat down, took off her shoe and proceeded to put it on her foot.
